Roy Keane has emerged as a hot favourite to join the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here line-up.
Irish bookie Paddy Power were forced to slash the price on the Cork native joining the hit reality show over the weekend, after Ian Wright, who went Down Under himself in 2019, publicly begged ITV bosses to sign the controversial Sky football pundit for the upcoming series.
The ex-Ireland captain and Manchester United legend now heads the betting at an odds on price of 1/4 to follow in Wrightie’s footsteps following a dramatic swing in odds in recent days.
His price took a significant dive from 12/1 last week, having originally been available at a massive price of 200/1 at the beginning of 2021.
Keane’s no-nonsense approach to football analysis has seen him become one of the most popular pundits around, and the Sky Sport pundit sent Twitter into meltdown last week, just by taking a few days off.
A spokesman for Paddy Power said: “Roy’s scathing analysis of United performances are always trend-worthy.
“You know you’ve got star quality when you can set the Twittersphere alight just for random some absenteeism.
“So it’s no surprise that fans and ITV bosses alike might be excited by the prospect of seeing pull a ‘hairdryer’ on some unsuspecting celebs and who wouldn’t relish the thought of him swapping slide tackles for swallowing pig’s tackle!”
A number of other well-known Irish personalities also feature in the betting as likely candidates to become a contestant on the upcoming reality show.
With Keano topping the bill, former Love Island stars Maura Higgins (3/1) and Greg O’ Shea (25/1), also get a mention, while singer Una Healy is another strong option if her odds of 6/1 are anything to go by.
